Come and see . . .

Those of you with children may remember your son or daughter
grabbing you by the hand and saying, “Come and see,” as they led you into their room where they had just constructed the finest castle out of building blocks you’d ever seen.

Or you may remember the look of pride on your teenager’s face when he’d finally saved enough money from that after-school job to buy his first car and he came charging into the house to drag you out into the driveway to “come and see” it. You might not have thought it was much to look at, but he couldn’t have been prouder if it’s been a brand-new Cadillac.

Or can you think back on the day when you had finally gotten enough money together to make a down payment on your first house and you called your mom and dad and brothers and sisters and every friend you could think of and even some people who weren’t really friends to “come and see” your dream home?

“Come and see” are words we use when we have something very important to share with someone. They can’t really know, believe, or experience something until they come and see for themselves.

This is all Jesus asks of any of us: that we come and see for ourselves who he is. Even if you have questions or doubts, just come and check Jesus out for yourself.

Come and see if you have more peace, more joy, more love.

Come and see if you have less worry, less anger, less guilt.

Come and see if your life takes on a sense of meaning and purpose.

Come and see if you think less about yourself and more about others.

Come and see if life is better with Jesus or without him.

Come and see.

Proposed Cornerstone Church Covenant

Having, as we trust, been brought by Divine Grace to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and to give up ourselves to Him, and having been baptized upon our profession of faith, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, relying on His gracious aid, solemnly and joyfully renew our covenant with each other.

We will work and pray for the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

We will walk together in brotherly love, as becomes the members of a Christian Church; exercise an affectionate care and watchfulness over each other and faithfully admonish and entreat one another as occasion may require.

We will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, nor neglect to pray for ourselves and others.

We will endeavor to bring up such as may at any time be under our care, in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and by a pure and loving example to seek the salvation of our family and friends.

We will rejoice at each other’s happiness and endeavor with tenderness and sympathy to bear each other’s burdens and sorrows.

We will seek, by Divine aid, to live carefully in the world, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, and remembering that, as we have been voluntarily buried by baptism and raised again from the symbolic grave, so there is on us a special obligation now to lead a new and holy life.

We will work together for the continuance of a faithful evangelical ministry in this church, as we sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines. We will contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations.

We will, when we move from this place, as soon as possible unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen.

Celebrate Recovery

Do you know people that are in need of support and healing? Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered program for everyone with hurts, habits or hang-ups.  Do you struggle with any of these:

Overworking - Divorce - Abandonment - Anxiety - Depression - Abuse - Overeating - Lying - Perfectionism - Grief - Fear - Drugs/Alcohol - Overspending - Co-Dependency - Insecurity - Anger - Guilt

We have a place for wounded people here. Jesus knows every wound and He's not going to waste our pain. Recovery takes time. It reaches and transforms the very roots of our being. When our recovery is centered on the Lord, His transforming power can turn our pain into gladness.
